  • One seasonal favourite in our neighbourhood is the annual Christmas concert performed by the talented choir, orchestra and band of this Senior Public School.

    To accommodate their audience, this concert will take place in the auditorium of Agincourt Collegiate.  The SAM concert will get underway at 7:00 p.m. - on Thursday December 15

    While there is no admission, you are invited to drop off a non-perishable item that will be given to the food bank of Agincourt Community Services.

    The students and staff of SAM wish everyone the best of the holiday season. 

  • Another seasonal event in our neighbourhood - that always draws a very large crowd - is the Christmas concert performed by the award-winning orchestras, bands and choirs of Agincourt Collegiate Institute.

    This year’s concert will take place in the ACI auditorium – starting at 6:00 p.m., on Sunday December 11.

    The students and staff of ACI would be pleased to welcome you to this annual concert that will help everyone get into the spirit of the holiday season.

  • On Saturday October 29 – from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. - everyone is invited to enjoy a unique musical concert called “Golden Melody in Autumn”.

    The ‘gold’ in the title refers to the golden oldies that will be sung – in both English and Chinese – by a popular group of entertainers.  

    Be sure to drop in and enjoy well-known radio DJ Larry Lo – along with his singing friends Hoppy Hui, Davy Poon and Andrew Kwan.

    The Oriental Centre is at the northeast corner of Brimley and Sheppard, in the heart of Sheppard East Village BIA, with free parking and bus service to the door.

  • Here’s an interesting way to enjoy the last days of the summer of 2016 in Sheppard East Village – enjoy the Singing Contest being organized by the Oriental Centre (northeast corner of Brimley Rd. and Sheppard Ave.) over 2 weekends in September.

    This Singing Contest is open to singers of all ages, genders, and nationalities.  All types of music will qualify and any song is welcome.

    A committee will determine which singers will advance to the final round of this competition.

    On Sunday September 4, the preliminary rounds will take place in the Centre, starting at 1:30 p.m.

    On Sunday September 11, also at 1:30 p.m., the singers selected by the committee will all compete.  The singer declared the winner will receive a prize of $500.

  • Everyone is invited to the Scarborough Civic Centre – from 12 noon until 10:00 p.m. - on Friday July 1 and Saturday July 2.

    Free Celebrations include something for everyone:  a Kids’ Zone; Food;  Entertainment;  an Arts Display;  and a Public Market & Food Fair, among many attractions.

    There will also be a special Ceremony in which some of Canada’s newest citizens will be welcomed.

    The Civic Centre has its own SRT stop – it is near McCowan, Brimley and Ellesmere TTC bus stops – it is just off Highway 401 and there is lots of parking nearby.

    The City of Toronto and the members of Scarborough Council invite you to enjoy these Celebrations.

    After the Celebrations, why not come a few blocks north – and enjoy the excellent restaurants and  many shops in Sheppard East Village?

  • The shopkeepers of the Oriental Centre invite everyone to come by and enjoy their Father’s Day celebrations on Saturday June 18, 2016 – from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.

     

    There will be musical performances and circus presentations – and so much more.

  • Everyone is invited to a Community Picnic - a free event on Saturday June 11, 2016, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. - at the Burrows Hall Community Centre.

    Burrows Hall is conveniently located at the corner of Sheppard Avenue East and Progress Avenue – one stoplight east of Markham Road.  Parking at the picnic is free.  TTC bus service on both Sheppard and Markham Road makes getting to this picnic an easy thing to do.  

    This great annual Community Picnic is organized by the volunteer members of the Community Police Liaison Committees and the dedicated officers of our local Toronto Police 42 Division.

    42 Division serves the people, businesses and community organizations in the east end of Toronto – from Victoria Park Ave. to Port Union Road and from Highway 401 to Steeles Avenue.

    Our neighbourhood is safe and being well protected by the dedicated team of police professionals who serve with Superintendent Kim Yeandle and her colleagues.

    Every year, 42 Division and its Community Liaison Committees organize an exciting Picnic for everyone in our community.  Many different + delicious foods, a variety of games, lots of entertainment, bouncy castles, a 50/50 draw, a silent auction, and a bike safety workshop are only some of the many reasons that you and your family will want to come out and enjoy this Picnic.

    Proceeds from this Picnic will help to fund other 42 Division Community Police Liaison Committee programs – including awards and scholarships for local students; after-school student groups; a summer camp opportunity; and the annual 42 Division Auxiliary Christmas Toy Drive.

    After enjoying the annual Community Picnic, everyone is welcome to come one block west - and sample the food, restaurants and shops of Sheppard East Village BIA.
